Whale Watching

The Gray Whales are on their way down to Baja for their epic annual migration and they are currently cruising right by our beaches. They like to stop off and rub their barnacles in the sand, getting extremely close to shore. One popped up right next to me the other day and gave a little wave. It was literally about 30 feet away, it's such a powerful feeling, they are so big! I swear I have some weird awesome connection with the whales. Many times I will ask them to show, and just like that I'll see a blow or a fluke pop out of the water. Like Dave Rastovich I want to do what I can to save these big fat F 'in whales.
Pic is of a humpback that we spotted on a whale watching trip aboard the Condor Express out of Santa Barbara last May.
